Nice Old United Musical Ballerina Mantle Clock

We have a large number of vintage and antique clocks currently listed along with an equally large number of music boxes and other very nice collectibles. Be sure to have a look at oru other items! This is a wonderful old animated musical clock that was produced about 65 years ago by the united metal goods co in brooklyn, new york.

The clock case si made entirely of wood and finished in a deep walnut tone. There are goldtone wooden finials in each corner underneath for support. The clock features a showcase stage on the left side surrounded by a gilded, fancy metal frame with a clear cover inset into it. There are mirrored or foil reflective panels on the three sides inside and a colorful decorative ballerina stadns on a pedestal in the front.

The clock itself has a goldtone metal bezel surrounding the dial and a glass crystal is inset into it no cracks or chips that i can see. The dial itself has a white backdrop and features black arabic numerals to mark the hours and black matching metal hands to point out the time. There is a ogldtone second hand as well. The crod looks original to the clock and there is a light switch on the back that lights the stage and a separate lever that turns to activate the animation and music. Once these are engaged, the ballerina twirls about in atndem with a tune played by a music box inside the case fascinating!

There is an intact back on this clock identifying the maker and it's model no 870. The clock seems to work ok too and keeps good time as well though keep in mind this is an old clock and that some adjustments or service may be necessary once the clock arrives at its new home. We often recommend to our clock buyers to locate a shop near their home and haev their antique or vintage clocks serviced at least once every three years. Doing so will preserve a classic clock like this one for years to come. I've looked hte clock over fairly well and can't find any damage.

I do find a nick here and there and some discoloration to the showcase cover but overall, it's in very nice shape! The clock is the perfect size too measuring about 9 3/4 at its highest point, about 4 3/4 at its deepest point, and about 12 long. This clock would make a fabulous addition to any collection and is certain to impress anyone seeing it in your home, office, or wherever it is that you care to showcase a rare, animated, musical timepiece.
