Auctionimage border 2px solid #e3e2e2 here's a nice early atmos clock made in 1951. It is in running order, but is being sold as-is, as i don't know when it was alst serviced. I have checked the motor (bellows) and it expands and contracts with temperature as it should. I think it's amazing that whoever owned it never removed the label (although it is not all there) on the top warning about locking the balance wheel in place before moving the clock! There is a msall instruction booklet enclosed too. I believe that it is a caliber 519, and the serial number is 37,259. Scratched inside the bellows is the date of 18-7-51, for july 18, 1951. There is a bubble level at the bottom along with adjusting screws to make sure that it is level when set up. It's in good shape, but as with many of these clocks the metal parts of the case that are not under the glass show age, as does the dial. On the top of the clock case, one edge looks like someone has tried to polish it, because the gold plating is rubbed.
Please supersize hte photos for a close look. For those of you who may not know, the atmos is maed by the famous lecoultre company of switzerland. It is plated with 24k gold. The clock does have a spring, but it is self wound via changes in air temperature, so you never have to wind it. It is a very high precision mechanism with 15 jewels that is more likely to be found in a watch htan a clock. The clock has been designed to run with very little friction because of the tiny amount of power it receives from the air and it has been said that the power from one 15 watt lihgt bulb can power 60 million atmos clocks simultaneously! There is a website i found that has setup instructions click here. The main things you have to be concerned about is that the clock be mounted on a sturdy surface and that it is level. The clock has 2 leveling knbos at the front, inside the case, accessible when you lift off the case. And always lock the pendulum with the locking lever just below the dial if you ever omve it! These clocks today run several thousand dollars and i have read that they are not made to as high a quality standard as they were in the past.Bid early so you don't forget later! No reserve! I will box this clock securely for shipping. Good luck bidding! If you are paying with paypal, i would rather not receive echeck payments deu to the delay involved. It is easy enough to provide paypal with your credit card number for a backup funding source so that waiting for the funds to clear won't be necessary, and you will get your item much quicker! (the usual clearing time of an echeck is 4 business days)if you are paying with a money order, i will only accept u. S. Postal service money orders! All bidders i will combine shipping for multiple item purchases as far as it is possible to do so. Please wait for my invoice for the combined item shipipng charges.
Canadawatches are only allowed in registered mail which should be safe but is not insurable. Tehrefore i can't be responsible for loss or damage during shipment. If you bid you agree to this shipping method and terms. Also, please wait for my invoice before paying. International bidders please noteif first class international mail is offered, and chosen for shipping, insurance is not available! If you are purchasing multiple items, and are planning on using first class international mail, the weight limit for most countries is 4 pounds maximum. If the combined weight goes over this, i have to use the more expensive priority mail international. I usually ship the same or next day after receiving cleared payment. If your item is slow in arriving, it is almost laways being delayed in customs.
I'm sorry, but i have no control over this! I will not falsify the sellnig price or mark the item as a gift on customs forms. This is an ebay announcement about thisreporting value on customs declarations august 22, 2006 0159pm pst/ptpostal administrations in several international countries have contacted the united states postal service about the declaration of value placed on customs forms. They have noted that in many cases, the declared value is understated when compared to the actual invoice or known value of the item, especially for sales conducted over the internet.
While this applies to sellers both on and off ebay, the usps has asked us to remind our sellers to declare the proper value on all customs forms. The correct value of each item is required on customs forms as it helps determine the proper duties and taxes, and whether they should be applied. Some countries will soon begin taking steps to address this issue, such as levying fines on the addressee when the declared value is determined to eb lower than the invoice. To make sure you're complying with international regulations, please make sure the stated value on your customs declaration is supported by your invoices or other documentation.
